Yes, You Can Remove Hair There

Yes, You Can Remove Hair There

You have about 5 million hair follicles on your body. Though you may like hair on your head, you probably aren’t thrilled about its presence in other places – like armpits and the bikini line.

Shaving, waxing, plucking. These methods remove hair, but only for it to soon grow back. If you’re looking for a more permanent method of hair removal, read on. At Shantique Med Spa, located in Torrance, California, we provide laser hair removal to safely remove unwanted hair on any part of your body.

The downside of shaving

Shaving is likely the first method of hair removal you’ve tried. You may think it's a cost-effective way to get rid of hair, but over the course of a lifetime, it adds up. The average woman shaves more than 7,718.4 times in their lifetime and spends more than $10,000.

That’s a lot of money and effort only for annoying stubble to grow back hours later. Not to mention, ingrown hairs and razor burn are a mega buzzkill. If you’re ready to ditch the razor once and for all, laser hair removal is for you.

How it works

The BroadBand Light (BBL)Forever Bare system is our premiere method for targeting pesky unwanted hair. As a noninvasive laser system, Forever Bare emits laser energy deep into your skin to safely destroy hair follicles from the root while leaving your skin unharmed.

This automated system allows multiple hairs to be treated at a time with mega precision. Because the hair can only be destroyed during its growth phase, most patients need four to six treatments spaced about a month apart.

Forever Bare can safely be used to remove hair from:

Forever Bare can be used on a variety of different hair colors and types. It’s safe, gentle, and a comfortable way to permanently remove hair.

Benefits of laser hair removal

After concluding your last laser hair removal session, you’ll be bikini-ready all the time. Although this is one of the best benefits of laser hair removal, it isn’t the only.

Other benefits include:

Some hair removal methods like waxing and electrolysis require you to grow out your hair in between sessions. Depending on the area being treated, this can be embarrassing. Luckily, with laser hair removal, no growth is necessary, and you can shave before your appointment.

What to expect

The first step to undergoing laser hair removal is by scheduling a consultation with Shahinaz Soliman, MD. She assesses the area you’re seeking treatment and analyzes your medical history to determine if you’re a good candidate. Here’s what to expect if you’re given the green light for treatment.

On the day of your appointment, Dr. Soliman explains the treatment and answers any questions you may have. Next, you put on a protective set of eyewear, and she applies a cool gel to your skin to minimize discomfort. Dr. Soliman gently glides the Forever Bare handheld device over the treated area and adjusts its settings accordingly.

Small areas, like the upper lip, only take minutes to treat. However, larger treatment areas like the legs may take up to an hour. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and don’t describe it to be painful, but similar to the sensation of a rubber band being snapped on your skin.

To conclude the session, Dr. Soliman may apply lotion or give you an ice pack to minimize discomfort. She goes over the aftercare process, and you’ll be on your way before you know it.
