How Long After Microneedling Can I Get Botox?

How Long After Microneedling Can I Get Botox?

Was the day you noticed your first wrinkle like a bad dream turned into reality?

Your first wrinkle might have shown up in a photo or made an appearance in the bathroom mirror. No matter how it arrived, one thing is for sure – you want it to be gone.

You probably amped up your skincare routine in an effort to smooth away age-related skin concerns. Maybe you’ve undergone professional treatments like microneedling and Botox®.

Shahinaz Soliman, MD and her team Shantique Med Spa, in Torrance, California, believe servicing multiple skin treatments is the best way to give patients dramatic, anti-aging results.

Sometimes it can be hard to know which treatment to have first and how long to wait until the next one, but we’re here to help. Read on to discover how long to space microneedling and Botox treatments apart.

Microneedling — the key to firm, even-toned skin

Dull, lifeless skin. Acne scars. Jowls. If you’re met with skin concerns like these, microneedling is one of the best ways to reduce their appearance.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that involves a handheld device, called a dermaroller, containing hundreds of microscopic needles. Dr. Soliman applies the dermaroller to the skin on your face, chin, and neck to whisk away age-related skin concerns like:

Microneedling punctures the skin to encourage your body’s healing system and to trigger a variety of skin-friendly reactions, including ramping up collagen and elastin for baby-smooth skin.

Most patients need three to six treatments to get the best results. This treatment provides long-lasting results with many patients experiencing youthful skin for up to six months after.

Erase fine lines and wrinkles with Botox

Approximately 7.4 million Botox treatments were performed in 2018, making it the top minimally invasive cosmetic procedure. If you’ve had Botox before, you probably know it turns back the clock on your appearance.

Derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, Botox improves your complexion by smoothing wrinkle-causing muscles. It works by temporarily blocking nerve signals, so they prevent certain muscles from contracting and revealing smooth, line-free skin.

Botox can be used to treat:

Botox only works on the muscles Dr. Soliman treats while leaving surrounding muscles unharmed. This allows you to express a wide range of emotions while looking younger. You can expect line-free skin to last for three to six months.

Wait two weeks between treatments for optimal results

It may be tempting to stack your treatments and receive microneedling and Botox in one appointment. Though some practices may allow this, we’ve found patients get the best results when treatments are spaced two weeks apart.

After microneedling, your skin has many tiny lesions, and Botox works best on healthy, intact skin. We advise waiting at least 14 days after Botox to get any other skin treatment because this is the amount of time it needs to fully settle. Your skin is delicate and deserves the best care, so spacing out your treatments gives it the attention and care it needs to heal.

Sagging skin and wrinkles are just a part of getting older. We’re here to help if you wish to get a natural, but younger-looking complexion.
